Web Proxy

Want to speed up your web surfing? Cloudnet has a "Web Proxy" set up for just that purpose. A Web Proxy is a computer system that acts as a go-between. Your web browser (typically Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) will ask our Proxy to get the web pages from the remote site and then pass them back to you. One of the reasons this is faster is that if someone else looked at that page in the last couple days, the Proxy will have the files already. It only has to verify that it has the most current version. The more people that use it, the better the chances are that our proxy server will already have the page you want.

To try it out, set your Web (HTTP) Proxy to proxy.cloudnet.com and use Port Number 3128. Here are instructions for the most popular browsers:

Internet Explorer 5.x and 6.x

Click on the Tools menu, select Internet Options, click on the Connection tab, click on your dialup settings entry, and click the Settings tab, check Use proxy server.  In the HTTP: blank, type in proxy.cloudnet.com and type in 3128 in the Port column.  Click OK. Click OK again.

Internet Explorer 4.x

Click on the View menu, select Internet Options, click on the Connection tab, put a check in the Access the Internet using a proxy server box, and click on the Advanced button.  In the HTTP: blank, type in proxy.cloudnet.com and type in 3128 in the Port column.  Click OK.  Click OK again.

Internet Explorer 3.x

Click on the View menu, select Options, click on the Connection tab, and put a check in the Connect Through A Proxy Server box. Click on the Settings button. In the HTTP: blank, type in proxy.cloudnet.com and type in 3128 in the Port column. Click OK. Click OK again.

Netscape Communicator 4.x

Click on the Edit menu, select Preferences, click on the Advanced - Proxies category, mark Manual proxy configuration, and click on the View button.  In the HTTP: blank, type in proxy.cloudnet.com and type in 3128 in the Port column.  Click OK.  Click OK again.

Netscape Navigator 3.0

Click on the Options menu, select Network Preferences, click on the Proxies tab, mark Manual Proxy Configuration and click on the View button.  In the HTTP Proxy: blank, type in proxy.cloudnet.com and type in 3128 in the Port: blank.  Click OK.  Click OK again.
