Setting SMTP authentication in Outlook Express.

SMTP authentication is required for sending mail using smtp.cloudnet.com from outside the St. Cloud local Dialing area, or when using an Internet Service Providor other then Cloudnet.

For Cloudnet customers who wish to use the Cloudnet SMTP servers (smtp.cloudnet.com) to send mail, and are connecting to the internet using one or more of the following:

You will need to enable the SMTP authentication support within your Outlook Express mail client.

Configure Outgoing Mail Server for Outlook Express:

  1. From the Tools menu, select "Accounts".
  2. Click on the "Mail" tab.
  3. Select your mail account and click "Properties".
  4. Click on the "Server" tab.
  5. In the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" box, double check that it is "smtp.cloudnet.com".
  6. Under "Outgoing Mail Server", check "My server requires authentication".
    Please note that there is no need change the Incoming mail server setting.


  7. Click "Settings..."
  8. Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".


  9. Click "OK" to accept these changes.


  10. Click "OK" to accept these settings.
