Setting SMTP authentication in Netscape Messenger 7.x.

SMTP authentication is required for sending mail using smtp.cloudnet.com from outside the St. Cloud local Dialing area, or when using an Internet Service Providor other then Cloudnet.

For Cloudnet customers who wish to use the Cloudnet SMTP servers (smtp.cloudnet.com) to send mail, and are connecting to the internet using one or more of the following:

You will need to enable the SMTP authentication support within your Netscape Messenger 7.x mail client.

Configuring the Outgoing Mail Server with Messenger 7.x:

  1. Open Netscape Messenger 7.x.
  2. From the "Edit" menu on the toolbar, select "Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings".
  3. Click on "Outgoing Server (SMTP)".
  4. Double check that the "Server Name:" is "smtp.cloudnet.com"
  5. Check the box for "Use name and password".
  6. In the "User Name:" field, enter your Cloudnet username.(The first part of your Cloudnet email address, without the @cloudnet.com part).
  7. Under "Use Secure Connection(SSL)", select "Never"
