Setting SMTP authentication in Microsoft Outlook XP (2002)

For Cloudnet customers who wish to use the Cloudnet SMTP servers (smtp.cloudnet.com) to send mail, and are connecting to the internet using one or more of the following:

You will need to enable the SMTP authentication support within your Microsoft Outlook email client.

Configuring Microsoft Outlook XP (2002).

  1. In Outlook XP from the "Tools" menu, select "E-mail Accounts..."


  2. Select "View or change existing e-mail accounts", then click "Next".


  3. Click on your email account, then click "Change".


  4. Check to make sure your "Outgoing mail server (SMTP):" is set to "smtp.cloudnet.com".
  5. Click the "More Settings..." button.


  6. Select the "outgoing server" tab.
  7. Select "my server requires authentication"
  8. Mark "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."
  9. Click the "OK" button


  10. Click "Next".


  11. Click "Finish".
  12. You will need to close and restart Microsoft Outlook XP(2002) for these changes to take effect.
