Macintosh 8.0 - 8.51 Internet Setup Assistant Instructions

If you have an iMac or System 8.5, some screen numbers on your computer won't match screen numbers in these instructions. Don't worry, you'll be asked for the same information. Also, you'll be asked "Does your ISP require you to use a PPP login script?" The answer is no.

Find the Internet Setup Assistant on your hard drive, usually in the Assistants folder or the Internet folder. Double-click on the icon to start the Internet Setup Assistant.

Click the Update button.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Internet configuration

Choose "Add Internet configuration." Click the right arrow to continue.

Configuration anme and connection type

Type "Cloudnet" for the name of the configuration. Select "Modem." Click the right arrow to continue.

Modem settings

Choose your modem from the list. If yours is not listed, choose the closest match. Consult your manual or call the computer dealer or manufacturer for help. Choose "Modem Port." Choose "Tone." Click the right arrow to continue.

Configuration information

Enter the phone number from your Cloudnet Connection Info sheet. Enter your username. Enter your password. Click the right arrow to continue.

IP Address

Choose "No." Click the right arrow to continue.

Domain Name Servers

Enter the DNS numbers from your Cloudnet Connection Info sheet (slightly different than those above). Enter the domain name as cloudnet.com . Click the right arrow.

Email address and password

Enter your email address. Enter your password. Click the right arrow to continue.

Email account and host computer

Enter your email account in the form username@pop.cloudnet.com

Enter the SMTP host as smtp.cloudnet.com (it's faster than mail.cloudnet.com)

Click the right arrow to continue.

Newsgroup host computer

Enter the news group host as shown above. Click the right arrow to continue.

Conclusion

Click "Go Ahead" to save your internet settings.

You can now click the "Browse the Internet" icon on your desktop whenever you want to connect to Cloudnet.

For help with using your web browser, choose HELP from the menu bar and choose "Handbook" or "Internet Explorer Help."

To see how much time you have used, go to Cloudnet's Home Page, and choose Central, then "Your Account Information". You will be asked to enter your username and password, so have them ready.
