Publishing Your Own Web Pages
Publishing your web pages at Cloudnet involves four steps:
- Contact us to activate your "home page access" on the Cloudnet server. Send email to tech@cloudnet.com or give us a call at 240-8243 to have this set up, then move on to step 2.
- Put some information on a page. There are many ways to create web pages. The old fashioned way is to type out the "HTML code" manually (to see some code, click on your browser's View menu and on Source or Page Source.) Typing the code for a page gives you the most control over the page and insight into how it works. Most people now create web pages with an HTML editor like Netscape Composer, Microsoft FrontPage or Adobe Pagemill. These editors look and feel like word processors, but with lots of extras that make web pages special - like being able to add links to other things. Type some text and insert some images until you have something you'd like to publish - you can always change it later.
- Transfer your page to the Cloudnet Server. If you've used Netscape Composer to create a page, Click Here. If you used any other web design program or any simple text editor to create your web page files, you can use any standard FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program to transfer your pages to our server. If you don't have one, go to shareware.com and get WS_FTP (for Windows) or Fetch (for Mac.) If you have trouble downloading or using your FTP program, call us for help.

- Viewing your web pages online - You should now be able to view the pages you just copied to the server by going to; http://www.cloudnet.com/~demo2 (Note - you will want ot replace the "demo2" with your Cloudnet username).
If you create more pages, with other names, such as otherpage.html, the address will be: http://www.cloudnet.com/~demo/otherpage.html
Have fun!
