Welcome
to
Annunciation Parish
|
This past year we
observed the "Year of St. Paul", in which we were encouraged to
learn more about St. Paul's tremendous work in our church.
Paul (Saul at the
time) at first persecuted the church but after a sudden conversation
when he met the risen Lord, he became a zealous promoter of the
Christian faith. He is known as the Church's greatest
mi9ssionary. He has 13 Epistles in the New Testament which
reflect the vast area of the Mediterranean world where he preached
the faith. St. Paul traveled three extensive missionary
journeys-mostly by foot or by ship, some of them covering over 3,000
miles. Though St. Paul may at times seem abstract, he has made
tremendous contributions to Christian theology and spirituality.
We are all familiar with his beautiful treatise on Christian love in
I Corinthians 13 ("Love is patient, Love is kind"). St. Paul
taught that as Christians we make up the Church, The Body of
Christ-"We, though many, are one body in Christ" (I Cor. 12:12).
The Eucharist is the sacrament of unity and love (I Cor.
10:16-19).
Though the year of St.
Paul officially is ending, let us continue to read and listen to his
Epistles that we might be inspired to have a greater love of God and
the zeal to share our faith.

Fr Marvin Enneking, our Vicar
General, handed on the special gift of the Holy Spirit, promised by
Christ the Lord and poured out upon the apostles at Pentecost.
This completes their initiation into the Christian life and binds
them more closely to the Church.
We congratulate each of these fine
people as they celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is
our hope that they will continue to grow in their faith and be
involved in our parish ministries as they become full members of the
Church!
