We believe . . .

As Catholics, we look upon the cemetery, the earthly home of the departed, as the burial place of the faithful who are awaiting the resurrection.  Hence, the cemetery is a sacred place that invokes blessed memories and so is worthy of our care and respect.  It is in accord with this faith that the regulations are adopted.  The word "cemetery" is from the Greek word that means "sleeping chamber", which also indicates our belief in the resurrection.  In our cemetery, bodies are placed so that they face east, in the direction of the rising sun.  This is in accord with the ancient custom of Christians who have both their cemeteries and churches facing east.

REGULATIONS FOR ANNUNCIATION CEMETERY in Mayhew Lake MN.

  1. At the time of death and burial, a member of the cemetery board must be contacted.  Family members and/or friends may volunteer to dig the grave supervised by a board member.
  2. In the newer part of the cemetery, grave lots will be sold in sequence, that is, adjacent to graves already sold.  Empty lots in the older part of the cemetery are still available.
  3. A plot plan is available with the members of cemetery board and at the parish.
  4. Before a monument or marker is placed, the board should be contacted to discuss the exact location and placement.
  5. All signs, symbols, and expressions on monuments should be in keeping with good Christian art and taste.
  6. Monuments must have a concrete rim around them, flush with the ground, extending five inches in all directions.  Foot markers must have a concrete rim around them, extending four inches in all directions and flush with the ground.
  7. Leave holes in the cement rings for flower pots or urns.  A cemetery is very difficult to mow with all other types of decorations.  Keep in mind that we need to mow around them without extra trimming.
  8. All temporary decorations/urns that are placed into the cemetery ground will be removed at the discretion of the management.  Those hung on monuments can remain and will be removed when they become unsightly.  Flags and Memorial Day decorations on graves must be removed within three days.  Only the management may plant trees or shrubs in the cemetery.
  9. Family members are encouraged to keep the relatives' monuments in repair, gravesites level, and well cared for.  Bestow on them the care of love.
  10. Burial plots are not really purchased. Only the right to bury in a plot is purchased.
  11. The right to the use of burial plots for those on the current membership list (having a current envelope) of the parish as well as those not on the current membership list of the parish, may be purchased for perpetual care.  For pricing, contact a board member.
  12. The Annunciation Parish hereby expressly reserves the right to adopt additional regulations or to amend, alter, or repeal any of these regulations at any time and without notice to lot owners.
