Support Ready 7!!

Greetings Gunfighters,

Your Crusader Ready Room is in the final few months of preparation prior to being opened to the public for viewing. We are told to prepare for opening March of 2009. Accordingly we are now expending the bucks required to people proof all of our displays. This involves plastic enclosures and wall coverings to protect our memorabilia from damage and theft. Keep in mind no one will be on duty while the space is opened for public viewing. Therefore, all displays need to be protected since the public will be on self guided tours.

We have also recently purchased a 32" LCD monitor which will continuously play some of the best F8 video we can come up with.
Your support in months past has been vastly appreciated. We now have 182 of your names on the perpetual plaque just inside of the Ready Room door. To qualify for a name on the donor plaque, we have, since the beginning, required a donation of $250. For that donation you received your name on the plaque - and - a polo type golf shirt with our "Thousand Mile Per Hour" pin embroidered on the left breast and Midway Museum on the left sleeve.

If your name is not on that plaque and you would like it to be there, please send a $250 donation to Bob Pearl, 5155 Renaissance Ave., San Diego, CA 92122. If you originally sent a lesser amount, send us the difference. Or, here is another thought, if a shipmate has had his Last Charlie, and you would like to see his name on the plaque, get your buddies together and sponsor that individual. Recently a former CO of Midway did just that.

Needless to say we are excited. We are sorry it has taken so long but the delay has primarily been public access to our space. Most importantly, however, we are almost there.
