2009 League Rules
Eligibility: Teams may consist of two or three paid MSFL members.
Substitutes are allowed. If no paid members are fishing, you must let the
president or secretary know ahead of time. Teams may have no more than three
people in their boat during any league event.
Dues: The 2008 league dues are $35 per person ($70 for two-person
teams and $105 for three-person teams). If the third member of a team is
under 16, his/her dues are waived. Dues must be paid prior to the start
of the season and are not refundable. As stated above, substitutes are allowed,
but the number of persons in the boat during a league event may not exceed
the number of team members.
Scoring: A point system is used based on length as described
in the attached measuring guide. Teams may bring in six fish of each species
for measurement. All lengths determined by the measuring judge are final.
Scores will not be changed except in the case of a calculation error. Therefore,
be sure your fish are recorded accurately before you leave the access.
Bonus points are awarded for multiple species and bringing in a limit (6
of one species, except only 2 muskies) of measurable fish. One "show-up"
point per event is awarded for each team that has at least one member present
at the night's event. Trophy fish may be measured on the lake by another
team for prompt release. All state regulations and laws must be observed.
Fishing Hours: Hours for each event are listed on the attached
schedule. Fishing before the starting time or coming in late (except in
the case of motor trouble) will result in forfeiture of that night's points.
All boats must be at landing by the designated quitting time. There will
be no pre-fishing on the scheduled lake on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday
prior to the start time.
Postponements: Events may be postponed due to extreme weather conditions. If severe weather should develop after the start of the event, please use common sense.
Permitted Fishing Locations: Anglers may fish any waters accessible by boat without exiting the boat to push, pull, drag, or portage.
Methods of Fishing: There are no special bait restrictions. However, league members must comply with all state regulations.
Measuring: At the conclusion of the event, each team will place
their fish in a bag not provided by the league and bring them to the measuring
area. Only 6 fish of each species may be brought to the measuring area.
If a 7th fish is bought in, the largest is not counted. Fish will be measured
with mouth closed and tail pinched from mouth to tip of tail. Please tell
the person who is measuring your team's number before your fish are measured.
All lengths determined by the measuring team are final.
Dead Fish: All fish determined dead by the measuring team must
be removed by the team that caught them. Teams will not be allowed to throw
dead fish back in the lake.
Check In: In order to be eligible for your team show-up point, be sure to check in with a club officer or the team that is measuring.
Protest: If a league member wishes to protest something that occurred during an event, s/he must do so in writing within three days of that event. The league president will decide the result of any protest.
Sportsmanship: League members must follow the highest standards of safety, courtesy, and conservation. Please stay more than 100 feet from other boats and marker buoys. Profanity, intoxication, or obscene behavior will not be tolerated and will lead to disqualification.
Terms for League Officers: Officers may serve as many terms as they wish and are elected.
Secretarial Fee: The league secretary will be paid $5.00 per league
member, not to exceed $150 per season.
