Food and Parties

The next birthday celebration was with Hiroko. She took us to a local "izakaya" which is a Japanese tavern. They have an extensive menu of both food and drinks and the food is usually pretty good. In this picture, Hiroko is making a nabe (hot pot). There are a number of places and times in Japan where you cook your own food at the table. Sometimes you grill it, sometimes you boil it, sometimes you fry it and as in this picture, sometimes you just stir it.
