Leslie’s dog, Casper, became ill with Evans Syndrome in 2006. Here is a brief recap of Casper’s Story in Leslie’s own words.
”Casper is a miniature American Eskimo Dog who suffers from Evans Syndrome which is Autoimmune/Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia and Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia occurring simultaneously. When Casper was first diagnosed with Evans Syndrome in 2006, he spent more then a week in the hospital and received numerous blood transfusions and a cocktail of immunosuppressant drugs to save his life. Through it all, he kept showing everyone his strong will to fight this disease even when several doctors suggested he be put to sleep. He fought back and after almost a year on medications, he was able to become stable enough to return to most of his activities such as playing and walking. Because of complications from the drugs, Casper was weaned off the medications, but after only a few months off the drugs, he relapsed so he is again back on medications. Casper, is such a wonderful soul and brings happiness to everyone who meets him in person or sees his pictures. We are all rooting for him so that, hopefully, he will be able to beat this disease again.”
To earn additional income to help pay Casper’s veterinary expenses, Leslie opened Casper N Caboodle, an online store selling dog themed shirts and gift items. Since Leslie wanted to help find answers to the many questions that surround AIHA/IMHA, she also created a special section in the store to sell items dedicated to AIHA/IMHA with all commissions going to the Meisha’s Hope AIHA/IMHA Fund #338 at Morris Animal Foundation. I am thrilled with the merchandise I bought from this site. Below are photos of Maddie and myself wearing shirts I purchased from the Casper N Caboodle AIHA/IMHA Web site.To purchase some of the Casper N Caboodle IMHA merchandise for yourself and help in the fight against AIHA/IMHA at the same time Click Here
