Blessed be and welcome to my
webpage!

I have been a street character at the Minnesota
Renaissance Festival since 1989. Before that, I was a patron for about
10 years. Then, with encouragement from my children and the Mayor of the
faire shire, I finally auditioned at the ripe old age of 38.
My first character, Victoria Belardi, was a merchant
class widow dealing in the procurement of fabrics and other fine goods
for the Royalty. The following two years, being from Minnesota, we noticed
that the Scandinavians were not being represented in our village. Two friends
and I developed a group called Vasa's Daughters. Part of those characters
were based on the true history of Sweden. Vasa was the first elected king
of Sweden. We found that he had 3 sons, but no mention of any female offspring.
From there, Vilma, Volga and Velda Vasa were born! The triplets (identical
except for her), were sent to this festival by their father to find
suitable husbands since we were a bit past the marriageable age of 13.
Okay, okay, WELL past that age! I was Velda - the most intelligent, most
comely, most stable of the bunch! (I'm sure my sisters disagree with
this, but what do they know?) Much fun and merriment was had by them
finding male patrons to test for the positions and to accept the Marriage
Contract. One of our tests was to be able to fit into our specially made
family jewels codpiece. Wives and girlfriends loved having their significant
others embarrassed with the bejeweled piece! Our first year as Vasa's we
even were nominated for "Most Improved Veterans". After Velda Vasa, I became
Rosalily Bud-a peasant with lofty ideas and an attitude. She has been with
me since 1992.
One of her favorite things to be part of is "Vilification
Tennis". That is a game that somewhat has the rules of tennis and
we hurl insults over a "net" of peasants to our opponents. Some of the
insults get quite bawdy, but the crowds seem to love it.
In these pages, I have some of my favorite pictures
(including my own Renfest wedding), my list of insults, my own personal
poetry, Minnesota Renaissance Festival information, Rosalily's Ramblings-a
collection of fun/silly lists and jokes, and links to other favorite sites.
Please let
me know how you like these pages. Blessings!
