HAVEN TOWNSHIP ANNUAL MEETING

 

                                                TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 2006

 

The Haven Township annual meeting was held at the Haven Town Hall on Tuesday, March 14, 2006.  The meeting was called to order at 8:01 p.m. by Clerk Mike Zniewski.  The Board members present were Chairman

LeRoy Pauley, Supervisor David Johnson, Supervisor Keith Hibbard, Supervisor Dennis Lietha, Supervisor Eric Meyer,  Mike Zniewski, and Tammy Schefers.  There were approximately a total of 75 people at the meeting.

 

 

SELECTION OF MODERATOR

Dick Martinson nominated Lewis Stark as moderator for the meeting.  The nomination was seconded by Roger Plombon, and the motion carried.

 

MINUTES

 

The minutes of the 2005 Annual Meeting were read.  It was moved by Jim Rugg, seconded by Loren Prom to accept the minutes.  The motion carried.

 

 

 

 

CLERK/TREASURER'S REPORT

Mike Zniewski gave the clerk/treasurer's report.  It was moved by Roger Plombon and seconded by Curt Thering to accept the clerk/treasurer's report.  The motion carried.

 

 

FIRE REPORT

 

17 charged fire calls during 2005                   $  3,900.00

 

Recovered cost No Permit Fires                     $  1,140.00

 

Net Cost                                                          $  2,760.00

2006-2008  New Contract Amount                $34,466.00  2 Years

 

 

ROAD AND BRIDGE REPORT

 

Road Projects During 2005:

 

1.  Blading                                                                              $  1,593.75

2.  Brush Cutting, Crack Filling, Signs and Blading             $16,947.55

3.  Snow Removal during 2005                                              $18,341.88

 

The Annual Road tour is planned for April 29, 2006.

 

 

BUDGET

 

It was moved by Dick Martinson to accept the budget proposal.  Loren Prom seconded the motion.  The motion carried to set the following levy for 2006, payable in 2007:

 

 

 

                        Revenue:                     $  56,000.00    28%

                        Road and Bridge:       $103,000.00    52%

                        Fire:                             $  41,000.00    21%

 

                        Total Levy:                  $200,000.00

 

GOPHER BOUNTY

 

It was recommended by LeRoy Pauley and seconded by Leon Weis that the gopher bounty stays at $1.50 per pair, for the year 2006. The recommendation carried.  This will be an issue for the March, 2006 monthly meeting.

 

CLEAN-UP DAY

 

The annual spring clean-up day will be Saturday, May 6, 2006 at the Haven Town Hall.  The 4-H Club will again help with this project.  The hours will be from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. See the Spring Newsletter for more details.  

 

 

BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR

 

Sylvia Valley asked the Board Members if they heard anymore information about the gravel pit that was suppose to be going in by County Road 65.  No news was heard on that issue. 

 

 

APO-  Chairman LeRoy Pauley talked to the residents about the APO committee.  After discussion on this issue, Chairman LeRoy Pauley recommended that the Township stills stays in the APO.  It costs the Township about $4,000.00 a year for the membership. 

 

 

 

The Palmer/Clear Lake Fire Station is still in the process. 

 

Sherburne County Historical Society Museum-  It will be North of Becker located on the Cox Property.  Robert Larson made a motion that the Board should donate $500.00 to keep supporting the new Historical Building and Displays for the

Sherburne County Historical Society Museum. Jane Korte seconded the motion.  The motion carried. 

 

 

 

Sherburne County Historical Society will be holding a day long celebration on June 17, 2006 to celebrate Sherburne County</R>s 150th Anniversary.  This celebration will feature many activities and a demonstration by the Kelley Farm oxen.  This day also will mark the Grand Opening for the new

Sherburne History Center.  As a part of the celebration the Society is inviting townships and cities to participate in a memorial tree planting ceremony at its new site.  The cost of the program is $125.00, which covers the cost of the tree and a commemorative brick with your township

name inscribed.  After discussion on this issue, Sue Meyer made a motion that the board should spend the $125.00 for this project.  Jane Korte seconded the motion.  The motion carried. 

 

 

 

Airport -  Supervisor Dave Johnson told the residents that there will be a Master Plan Update Public Workshop.  It is at the City Council Chambers, First Floor at the St. Cloud City Hall on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. 

 

The Board Members said Thank-You to Jane Korte for all her work she did to keep the ATV Arctic Cat Dealers away from the Mississippi River.

 

 

The Board Members said Thank-You to Supervisor Dave Johnson for all his many years and hard work on the Township Board.  He has retired.

It was moved by Bruce Busta, seconded by Lois Campbell, that the meeting be adjourned.  The motion carried.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:42 p.m.
