MINUTES OF THE HAVEN TOWN BOARD MEETING

February 26, 2007

 

The Haven Town Board met at the Haven Town Hall on Monday, February 26, 2007.  The meeting was called to order at 6:07 p.m. by Chairperson Eric Meyer.  Members present:  Eric Meyer, LeRoy Pauley, Keith Hibbard, Mike Zniewski, and Tammy Schefers. 

 

BOARD OF AUDIT

KDV (Kern-DeWenter-Viere), Janel Bensen met with the Board and gave her report on the Audited Financial Statements and Management Letter.  The questions the Board had were all answered.  The audit went well.  Supervisor LeRoy Pauley made a motion to accept the audit report as published by KDV.  Supervisor Keith Hibbard seconded the motion.  The motion carried. 

 

The Board members went over the 2006 Receipts and Disbursements Audit and the Budget Recommendations for 2008 / Levy 2009.  After discussion on this issue Supervisor LeRoy Pauley made a motion to recommend at the Annual Meeting to the residents that the 2008 Levy, payable in 2009 should be:

            Revenue                      $50,000.00      28%

            Road & Bridge           $95,000.00      53%

            Fire                              $40,000.00      19%

            Total Levy                  $185,000.00

Supervisor Keith Hibbard seconded the motion.  The motion carried.  The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Supervisor LeRoy Pauley made a motion to approve the agenda.  Supervisor Keith Hibbard seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

 

READING OF THE MINUTES

Supervisor LeRoy Pauley made a motion to approve the minutes.  Supervisor Keith Hibbard seconded the motion.  The motion carried.   

 

BUILDING PERMITS

There were no building permits.

 

 

SHERBURNE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORT

The Deputy Sheriff gave the report for the month of January.  There were a total of 75 incidents.

Supervisor LeRoy Pauley made a motion to pay the outstanding bills.  Supervisor Keith Hibbard seconded the motion.  The motion carried. 

 

OLD BUSINESS

CUP Vesterra, LLC – They are still working with the Railroad and Teders property on this issue. 

 

Don Nelton – Still in litigation. 

 

UPDATED ITEMS

APO – Talked about extending 10th Avenue South in Waite Park.

 

Zoning – Bauerly Pits – Stark / Busse were both allowed at the County Level to dig into the water table. 

 

Airport Update – None 

 

Road Update – River Haven - 16th Avenue will be finished in the spring.

 

NEW BUSINESS

None

 

BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR

Dick Martinson had questions about the snow plowing.

Alvin Ayers had questions concerning snowmobiles.

 

BUSINESS FROM THE SUPERVISORS

Citescape – Still waiting for prices.

 

Chairman Eric Meyer presented Supervisor LeRoy Pauley with a retirement plaque for 30 years of service on the Haven Township Board.  Supervisor LeRoy Pauley served on the Board from 1977 – 2007.  Dave DeMars from the Becker Citizen Paper took pictures and had an interview with Supervisor LeRoy Pauley.

 

The March 10, 2007 Legislative meeting with Representative Larry Hawes, Senator Tarryl Clark and Representative Steve Gottwalt regarding the Mississippi River is canceled at the Haven Township Hall.

 

March 26, 2007 is a Class that the new Supervisors should attend.

 

April 16, 2007 is the Board of Audit.  Mike Zniewski will check to see if this is at Sherburne County or at the Haven Township Hall and have a posting put out to confirm the location.

 

The Del-Tone Gun Club was talked about for safety issues.  The Board will talk to Randy Luth to see if there can be more safety on bullet control.

It was moved by Supervisor Keith Hibbard, seconded by Supervisor LeRoy Pauley to adjourn the meeting.  The motion carried, and the meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
