Camp Cuyuna Alumni Association
Meeting Minutes
Annual Members Meeting: Friday June 13, 2003

Old Business

  1. Pat Kunkel and Steve Knuth have not been reimbursed for expenses incurred for the 2002 Reunion, which were submitted and approved over a year ago. This is entirely unacceptable. A motion was approved unanimously to make our highest priority getting the Council Office to cut Pat and Steve checks from our account.
  2. Spring newsletter was not sent. Summer newsletter will be sent instead. Initial plan was to send copy of Camp Cuyuna Memories Photo CD to each dues-paid CCAA member and free copy to anyone joining the CCAA for 2003-2004. However, Eric Roers brought up that he thought a copy was promised to everyone who attended the reunion. Motion approved to send a copy of the Photo CD to each person (alumni) who attended the reunion and all dues-paid members. Photo CD will also include a list of all alumni who attended the reunion. Hard copy of newsletter will be sent to all alumni for whom we have mailing addresses.
  3. At our last CCAA board meeting, the board approved $300 to be donated to a shingling project during our 2003 work weekend. However, it was decided, due to a small work crew and more pressing work projects, that we would not complete the shingling project. Hence, we did not spend the allotted $300. A motion was approved unanimously to re-direct the $300 for the 2003 Camp Cuyuna work project to the 2003 Camp Cuyuna budget; to be used at the discretion of the Camp Director, Program Director, and Camp Ranger to address a pressing need that would benefit the Camp Cuyuna Staff.

New Business

    Elections
    1. Three one-year interim director positions were up for election: Rich Gilbertson, Pat Kunkel, and Scott Poppe. These positions now become three-year directorships.
      • Keith Fitzpatrick nominated and unanimously elected as a director for a three-year term (to replace Rich Gilbertson).
      • Jon Morrill nominated and unanimously elected as a director for a three-year term (to replace Pat Kunkel). This is contingent upon his acceptance. Matt Bentley nominated and unanimously approved, as a back up for this position should Jon decline.
      • Eric Raney nominated and unanimously elected to replace Pat Kunkel as Secretary.
      • Scott Poppe re-nominated and unanimously elected as a director for a three-year term. Scott Poppe also re-nominated and unanimously elected to continue as Vice President: Social.
    2. Doug Raney's one-year interim President term was up for election. Doug Raney was re-nominated for President and unanimously elected to a three-year term as CCAA President.

Amendment to CCAA Articles of Association
The first amendment to the CCAA Articles of Association was proposed by Pat Kunkel and unanimously approved. All persons who have served on the staff of Camp Luck shall be eligible to become members of the Association, provided that they pay their annual dues and satisfy any other requirements imposed by the board of directors. The old Cedar Valley Council ran Camp Luck in Luck, Wisconsin. It was the pre-cursor to Camp Cuyuna and was closed when Camp Cuyuna was opened.

    Other Issues

    1. We need to think about/work on ways to get current/recent Camp Cuyuna Staff involved in the CCAA. Jim Menton to contact Pat Kunkel about giving a presentation/talk during staff week.
    2. We need to work out a process for adding honorary members to the CCAA. There is a provision for this in the CCAA Articles of Association, but the details for exactly how this will be accomplished have not yet been worked out and approved. This will be an action item for upcoming board meeting. The process should be presented for approval at the 2004 Annual Member's Meeting.
    3. At our upcoming board meetings, we need to discuss ideas for future marketing and fundraising for the CCAA.

Notes
Many thanks to Donny Halverson and Conoco of Cross Lake for donating the dinner for our 2003 Annual Member's Meeting, and to Donny for hosting at his home.
