Meeting Minutes
Board Meeting: Saturday March 13, 2004

Old Business
  1. Financial update:
    • Approximate Cash Balance = $847.97
    • CCAA Endowment Fund = $200.00
    • New Dues and Donations = $40.00
    • 2004 FOS Donation = -$110.00
    • Approximate Current Cash Balance = $777.97 (+$200 endowment)
  2. Current membership = 52 people; 19 paid members, 33 free 2003 staff memberships.
  3. 407 current mailing addresses (102 not-current), and 149 current e-mail addresses.
  4. CCAA website has had 112 hits since Bill started keeping track on February 28th.
  5. No new T-shirt sales to report; Steve double-checked and only 9 T-shirts left.
New Business
  1. Quite a bit of discussion, updating, and sharing of information regarding status of sale of 163 acres at Camp Cuyuna and current vision of TVC leadership. Recap of meeting in Madelia on Sunday, 3/7/04.
  2. Discussed immediate goal of helping get pro-camp persons elected to the Twin Valley Council Executive Board. Brainstormed a list of potential nominees. Several persons volunteered to contact potential nominees and see if they are willing to serve. Jeff Kunkel will compile final list of nominees and submit to the TVC Nominating Committee by the March 19th deadline.
  3. Discussed immediate goal of distributing a survey to TVC Scoutmasters to see if they support keeping and supporting the TVC's camps. Will start by e-mailing survey to key contacts in each district who can forward to Scoutmasters. Bill will create a form on our website so they can also submit the survey online. Or, they can respond via e-mail or print the survey and send it to us. Plan is to collect the results as quickly as possible and present to the TVC executive board. Goal is to see if the current members of the TVC really want to support their camps and are willing to take charge of their council to re-direct the current leadership, who seem to have a different vision that doesn't include the TVC having long-term camping.
  4. Had planned to send out an update letter to all former Cuyuna staff the week of 03/22/04. Will hold off sending the update letter until after next board meeting, because getting people elected to the TVC executive board and sending out the long-term camping survey are higher priorities.
  5. Voted and unanimously approved a $110 Friends of Scouting (FOS) donation to the Twin Valley Council for this year (2004). When we request the CCAA's funds from the TVC, we will request all funds minus $110 for the CCAA 2004 FOS donation.
  6. Bill presented a draft proposal of requirements for "Honorary" CCAA Membership. Brief discussion; we will review the proposal and discuss/brainstorm at our next board meeting. Goal is to still come up with a proposed amendment for discussion and approval at the 2004 Annual Members Meeting.
  7. Next CCAA board meeting to be on Saturday, April 17th, 2004; from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Jake's stadium pizza in Mankato, MN.
Action Items
  1. Volunteers to call potential TVC executive board nominees, and Jeff Kunkel to submit nominations to the TVC Nominating Committee by the March 19th deadline.
  2. Bill, Eric, and Doug to create long-term camping survey e-mail, Bill to create on-line form, and Eric to send out e-mail by Wednesday, March 17th at the latest. Need to get a list of key contacts in each district to send e-mail to.
  3. Doug Raney to request all CCAA funds from Twin Valley Council.
