Chuck McMahon Memorial & Meditation Area
The CCAA has decided on an area within the Lakeside Chapel. We cleared away the brush on July 9, 2005. The stone was added on July 14. The bench was added on July 20. And the plaque was added on July 28. This area almost complete. Please click on the picture above to see a larger version. Zac & Alyx have expressed their gratitude for us taking on this task.
The picture above is what the area looked like before the work was done on July 9th. The picture on the left is what it looks like now. The future plan for this area is that anyone can add stepping stones to the area as a memorial for other scouters who have given service to Cuyuna Scout Camp. Currently there are four stones in place: for Ranger Ed Smock (74-84), Camp Director Rich Gilbertson (84-88), Staff JJ Boettcher (87) and Chuck McMahon (1984-2004). The stones do not have to be for staff members, they can be for any scouter.
