The Wings of Mercy, Minnesota Inc. (Wings) program is an all volunteer medical air transportation service in which FAA certified pilots, nurses and other professionals donate their time, planes and expertise in order to transport beneficiaries who are in medical and financial need.  Wings pays nothing for storage of planes, maintenance costs, training costs or anything else that is associated with keeping the plane and the pilot current.  All pilots, nurses and other professionals come to Wings already trained and licensed.

Wings of Mercy, Minnesota Inc. was established and incorporated as a 501(c) 3 organization in January of 1995, flying its first flight also in January of 1995.  This year, 2005, marks our 10 year anniversary.

Testimonial: One of our beneficiaries, a 21-year old woman, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in April of 2004.  She lived in Michigan but needed treatment in Rochester MN.   How was she to get there for her constant treatment and recoveries?  She was a student with a middle class upbringing.  Like most recoveries, rest is an important part.  Flying is of course the quickest mode of transportation, however, commercial flight can pass on additional disease to an already ailing person.  A direct quote from her mother after the young woman passed away in January of 2005, “She was much too sick for commercial air, Wings really made a difference!”
